Romantic Haruka and Michiru moments, as compiled by Immora Visit the World of Immora: http://come.to/immora or http://www.lit.org/immora This is a list of things that happen in the episodes Haruka and Michiru appear in that would imply they are lovers. This also has translations for their songs and prologues that suggest they are lovers, plus the two LD covers they appear alone together on. I thought other fans might like to look over everything that's happened between them... I know I sometimes buy episodes just for things that happen between them, LOL!... but also, I know there's some silly people out there that think Haruka and Michiru are "just friends," that we're misinterpreting their relationship due to cultural differences... or those people saying these things are just homophobic... boy, you people are ignorant. I want people to see just how much stuff happened between them _in the anime alone_ that suggests they're lovers. Hopefully some of you will come to your senses --;;; I just want to comment: If perhaps some dialogue is mistranslated and therefore the fans are misinterpreting it... that's an awful lot of dialogue to screw up!!! While I own a good amount of episodes and both the movies they appear in, I don't own _all_ the episodes. I have, however, read many episode summaries, seen screenshots, read scripts, etc., for the episodes which I do not have. The episodes I have are subtitled by VKLL. Oh yeah, just ignore the comments I make if you want ^^;; This is updated from the version I originally created for TAMSASMPA/TROTAS's issue review of Haruka and Michiru's relationship, quite significantly. Many more moments have been added or corrected (now that I've seen more episodes and have more scripts rather than summaries). I've also numbered the incidences within episodes with my analysis/arguments regarding the said event. I simply refered to this as A/A for simplicity's sake. Coming eventually: An HTML version with pictures from the episodes, and of the LD covers! ********** Season: Sailor Moon S Episode 92: #1- In the introduction, Usagi says, "All of a sudden, a very beautiful guy named Ten'ou Haruka appeared before us! With a beautiful woman, they made a great looking couple, as if they came from a picture." A/A- Why would Usagi mention them as seeming to be a couple if they weren't? #2- Michiru asks Haruka while they're leaving the arcade if Haruka made friends with Minako and Usagi. When Haruka says, "You're jealous?" and Michiru says, "Maybe..." Really romantic music plays. A/A- Michiru is jealous of the idea of Haruka hanging out with other girls. And the music... hmmm... #3- This scene was hilarious... Usagi and Minako want to know more about Haruka... here's the script of the scene: Haruka: Is there anything else you want to know... Minako: Yes! Who is the woman you were with? Usagi: Who? Minako: What's your relationship? Usagi: What kind? Minako: Is she your girlfriend or not? Usagi: Is she? Haruka (stunned): My girlfriend? Michiru? Minako: Michiru? Does that show your relationship? Usagi: Does it? Haruka: Yes, but our relationship is just more than that... Haruka: But, don't give up! You still have a chance! Minako: Yes! Michiru: Don't be deceived! Haruka: Michiru! Michiru: You're always saying that whenever you see a pretty girl! Haruka: Don't say it like that! Michiru (teasingly): Oh? Do you think you can say anything about it to me? Michiru: I wonder if I should go home with your lunch... Haruka: Oh, come on! Minako: A question! Are you Haruka's girlfriend? Usagi: Please answer, yes or no! Michiru (note: she's looking downwards with eyes closed, and she says this in English): No. A/A- Haruka and Michiru refer to each other _by name_, in all episodes, not just this one. This is a sign that they are _very_ close; people in Japan put suffixes (like -chan, -san, -kun...) on everyone's names, but to leave it off indicates a very close relationship, or one of contempt (and they obviously don't hate each other!) Haruka says "their relationship is just more than that...", suggesting are more than friends, and even the way they refer to each other doesn't indicate how close they are. Michiru refused to look them in the eye and respond in her native tongue when she answers whether or not she's Haruka's girlfriend. Can you say "lying"? #4- When Haruka is talking about how she's changed her dreams and seems sad, Michiru clasps her hand tightly. A/A- I really don't think someone, even a close friend, would grab the other's hand when they only seem a bit saddened. Episode 93: #1- Haruka teases Michiru playfully about sounding like an old woman. A/A- This isn't that big a deal, but I think it's cute the way Haruka is teasing her. She isn't being rude at all. #2- The next episode teaser is interesting: Usagi: A romantic first kiss is a dream of all pretty girls! Haruka: How cute... dreaming of kisses... Usagi: Speaking of kisses, Haruka... When was your first kiss and with whom? Who? Who was he? Haruka: How about you? A/A- Haruka refuses to answer! She won't say when/who her first kiss was! Why would she avoid such a question unless the situation was a bit different from the ordinary, eh? Episode 94: #1- When Michiru and Haruka are talking with Unazuki and Usagi about various types of kisses and what they mean, and Usagi comments that Haruka is very knowledgable (about kisses). Michiru looks over at Haruka and comments, "First kiss... we want to make the most of it, don't we?" then Haruka looks at her, chuckles and smiles. During this scene, they had romantic music and those sparkly bubbles... They leave, and Usagi says, "Haruka and Michiru are... adults." A/A- Michiru's comment, plus the way she and Haruka look at each other and smile, plus the music and effects on top of that... doesn't that suggest a relation- ship? Why in the world would they have that sort of music and the bubbles for two friends?! And Usagi comments that they're "adults"... I think this is a very cute scene :) #2- While Haruka and Michiru are outside, Haruka says, "First kiss...?" and Michiru says, "They're so cute, I envy them! In our present situation, there's no room for love in mind..." A/A- I believe Michiru is suggesting they don't have time for romantic inter- ludes because of their mission. Episode 95: #1- Haruka and Michiru entered the Lovers' Contest. When they show up, Michiru has her arm wrapped around Haruka's and they're smiling at each other. Usagi says, "Oh? Haruka and Michiru!" Rei says, "Wonderful!" and Makoto asks if they're participating, too. Ami says, "Between girls?" and Minako comments, "But from their appearance, they look like a real couple." A/A- Okay, I've heard even best friends in Japan hold hands, so that must be common to see and all... but even their friends think there's more to it than that! When you see them together, it really looks like they're a couple, from the way they're holding onto each other and looking at each other. #2- In the contest, the girlfriends had to go behind a wall and stick their hand out a hole. The boyfriend had to go find their hand. Haruka went immediately to Michiru's. Ami says, "Do they really have such a relationship?" The announcer prodded Haruka, "Call out your girlfriend's name." Haruka was really stubborn at first before calling out "Michiru". A/A- Haruka knows Michiru's hands really well o.O Again, their friends wonder at their relationship... If you ask me, I think the term "girlfriend" is a rather casual term, more like a term for a girl you date... I think that they're too deeply in love for "girlfriend" to fully describe their relationship. #3- Haruka and Michiru won every contest, and just before the last one, where you confess your love, they dropped out. A/A- Kinda wonder why they win all the contests? :P And Haruka and Michiru know their friends are there (they were screaming to Haruka and Michiru before it began,) so I think they didn't want to broadcast their relationship... not to mention it's a personal matter. Episode 96-97: Haruka and Michiru tease each other alot. A/A- Not that big of a deal. Episode 98: #1- After Haruka wins a race, she's talking with Michiru. One of the shots makes it look like they're about to kiss; their faces are very close to each other's. A/A- The shot of them together... whoa! o.O Quite a nice picture... I don't think anyone would get as close as they do if they're just friends... not to mention Haruka closed her eyes, hmmm... They're so cute together! #2- Neptune tells Uranus she has to escape and complete their mission. A/A- We'll see in the next scene exactly why she said this... but I suspect there was a bit of underlying reason behind it. I think Neptune realized how dangerous Kaolinite was, and didn't want Uranus risking herself to save her. #3- When Moon criticizes Uranus about not going to rescue Neptune, Uranus says, "What do you know! We made a promise. If something happened to one of us, we wouldn't go back and help out. The one who survived would go after the Talisman. We already promised that." A/A- Poor Uranus seems to be quite mad... You have to wonder at why they'd make this sort of promise. After all, why make a promise like that if you already knew to complete the mission? They would definitely risk their lives if not for the promise. That's love for ya :D #4- When Uranus goes to help Neptune at the end, she looks _very_ concerned. She completely ignores Moon and goes straight to her. A/A- The look on Uranus's face is so much more tender than any we've seen on her up to this point. It's so sweeeeeet! And the fact that she doesn't seem to care about Moon, she goes right to Neptune... Episode 99: After Michiru finished playing her violin, Haruka came over to talk to her, about the mission and whatnot. While they're talking, Michiru goes over and holds her hands, and after Haruka pulls away, Michiru comes back over and presses up against her (er, you can see her breast is mashed against Haruka's arm!), and Haruka smiles down at her and takes her hand, pulling her close against her. A/A- Best friends might hold hands... but NOT LIKE THIS! They don't just hold hands, they'd pressed up together... This scene is sooo adorable! Episode 100: Haruka and Minako are talking after running into each other at the Crown Game Center, and some interesting comments are made: Minako: Haruka, don't you have a boyfriend? Haruka: No... didn't I tell you before? Minako: But, at least you must have someone you like, don't you? What kind of man does a brilliant female motorbiker like? Perhaps, someone with special talent? Haruka: What do you want to ask me? Minako: Don't you ever wish you could be an ordinary high school girl? Don't you ever feel lonely just because ordinary happiness is far away? Haruka: Are you sacrificing some ordinary happiness? Minako: Oh? No... Haruka: Well, I don't understand what you mean by ordinary happiness...but I don't think I am extraordinary. I feel the best like I am now! Because I love motor-sports, I can't stop living as I am... Other than ordinary happiness, I have something more important... How about that? Minako: Something more important? Haruka: Excuse me, I have to go now! Minako: Sure... Sorry that I asked you something weird. Haruka: It's okay. You're... Minako? Let's race each other at Crown! See you! Minako: Something more important? A/A- Haruka always avoids questions about relationships, doesn't she? ;) I think what she's getting at is that Michiru is more important than any boyfriend could be... don't you think? And the way she just broke off and left... suspicious ... ;P Episode 101: Michiru is clearly VERY irritated and jealous [as much as she ever shows] when Haruka flirts with Usagi. Aside from the look on her face, she remarks, "Not again!" A/A- Why would you be jealous of a friend flirting with another girl? Episode 102: Uranus leans heavily on Neptune when she's injured, and they don't seem to be watching where their hands go o_O. A/A- Well, Neptune's hand is... near Uranus's bow, let's put it that way. I think friends would be a little concerned about that and smack the other's hand away... and you wouldn't put your hand on a friend like that. Plus, the fact that Uranus is leaning so much on her, Neptune supporting her so much... Uranus wouldn't let just anyone touch her at all, much less support her like that. Episode 103-105: Is it just me, or do they go _everywhere_ together? Festivals, tea rooms, even resorts. Oh yes, here's a couple dialogue snippets: #1- 103: [Haruka was scooping up a goldfish in a spoon at Minako's booth] Haruka: Good! What a pretty goldfish. I'm sure you're happy. Michiru: Oh? Pretty? Haruka: Come on, are you jealous? Michiru: Well, maybe... A/A- I think Michiru doesn't want Haruka thinking of anyone or anything else as pretty, even a fish ;) #2- 104: [Michiru and Haruka are in kimonos, and come across Chibi-Usa, Usagi, and Mamoru] Haruka: Hi! Nice to see you again, little girl! Usagi: Haruka! Michiru! Chibi-Usa: How beautiful! Like mom and dad! Usagi: You see, Chibi-Usa, Haruka is a woman even though she looks handsome... and your future mom is me, isn't it? A/A- They really must look like a married couple! Hee hee hee! #3- 105: I just think it's interesting that some guys were checking out the Inners, then noticed Haruka and Michiru and decided they were better looking ;P A/A- The comment has nothing to do with their relationship, LOL! Ah well... But hey, they're at a really nice resort together... romantic getaway, perhaps? The Laserdisc cover for 106-109: Whoa. If you haven't seen this yet... Ok, we have Uranus and Neptune, drawn very prettily, nice blue-green shading effect, quite nice... Now, look at how they're holding each other. Uranus is behind Neptune, reaching her arms around to grab her (her hands are on her chest area, btw) and pull her up against her, bending her head forward, lips parted, Neptune leanding her head back, lips also parted, their faces quite close together... A/A- This is a GORGEOUS picture of them together, and if this doesn't tip you off to the fact that they're in love, you're quite ignorant! They're obviously moving in for a kiss... Episode 106: NOTE: This episode is fantastic! The best for Harukaandmichiru!!! #1- The introduction to the episode is suggestive in itself! Usagi is saying, "Haruka-san and Michiru-san are such a beautiful couple. Their first encounter must have been so beautiful! Haruka-san said Michiru-san is more than just a friend... Perhaps... Oh, no! C'mon guys! Don't imagine such stupid things! Otherwise, in the name of the moon, I'll punish you!" A/A- They flat out say they are a beautiful _couple_! Haruka has said Michiru is more than "just a friend!"... Hmmm... #2- In part of her narrative, Haruka says, "The circuit was everything to me... until I met Michiru Kaiou." A/A- Well, doesn't that suggest that Michiru is now everything to her? #3- Elza is introducing Michiru to Haruka [in a flashback], commenting "She really wants to meet you." Haruka looks _quite_ surprised before Michiru starts speaking. Michiru comments on "not a drop of sweat on you... you're holding back. Haruka asks what she means, then Michiru comments, "You hear the wind rustling, don't you?" Haruka then recognizes Michiru as being from her dream of the Silence, where she appeared as Neptune. In her narrative, she says Michiru was "that person", and she was destined to be a warrior but she "didn't want to admit it", so when Michiru asks her to model for a painting, she says she isn't interested and turns to leave with a sad look on her face. A/A- Haruka doesn't want anything to do with Michiru because of their destiny as warriors, she even says so in the narrative. She is saddened to leave... Haruka obviously would pursue Michiru if not for the mission. #4- Haruka is on a cruise and Michiru is performing there. Haruka gets up to leave the room after overhearing a couple talking about Michiru as "a junior high girl... she has no friends... doesn't like people," stuff like that. Michiru has been playing with her eyes closed, but when Haruka leaves, she opens them and looks very sad. A/A- Michiru _knows_ when Haruka leaves and is sad because of it. That's some pretty strong senses o.O #5- Haruka is on a stairwell in the boat, and a large painting Michiru did of a tidal wave destroying a city is there. Michiru is sitting on the stairs. Here's the dialogue: Michiru: How do you like it? You are more than welcome here, genius racer Ten'ou Haruka! [quite eager, isn't she? ;) You can hear it in her tone] Haruka: You know a lot about me, don't you?... Did you paint this? Michiru: You're famous, aren't you? In my school, there's lots of your fandom. One of them wants to ride along the coastline with you in your car... even though she's a girl! ["and it's me!" :P ] Haruka: The end of the world... How can a pretty girl who won't hurt a fly... paint such a horrible imaginary painting? Michiru (getting mad): It is not imaginary! I can see it clearly! As can you! Haruka (mad): Ridiculous! I am Japan's first ever junior racer, Ten'ou Haruka! Neither the memory of my previous life nor the end of the world is my business! If it has to be done, why don't you do it? I don't want you snooping around about me anymore! Michiru: Stop talking that way! I don't want to do it either! I have a dream to be a violinist! I just can't keep on doing stupid things like saving the world from ruins! A/A- Sorry for the comments in the dialogue, but... This is a great example of Michiru's feelings for Haruka. She just _happens_ to mention that a girl is interested in Haruka. She's been digging up dirt on her... Hmmm... #6- Haruka was at the garage at her race track when a boy turned into a daimon. It attacked her, and her henshin wand appeared. Fascinated, she reached to take it. Michiru appears and tells her to stop; she could never have a normal life if she took it. She transforms into Neptune and fights the daimon. While it's knocked down, she and Haruka argue over her probably killing it even though it was human. The daimon recovers and launches itself at Haruka. Neptune leaps in the way, getting her arm and back badly cut, and then using Deep Submerge, which restores it to normal. Haruka cradles her in her arms when she's hurt. Dialogue: Neptune: The monster? Haruka: It has returned to human form. Don't worry. Neptune: I almost killed it... No, I'm sure I'll kill it next time. It isn't easy ... but I chose to become a soldier. Haruka: Then, why did you protect me? If you hurt your hands, you can't be a violinist! Neptune: I didn't snoop around just because you're a soldier. Before I knew that you were the one... I was watching you from nearby when you were racing for the first time. I always wanted to ride in your car along the coastline just once... You never asked any favors of anyone. You are always faithful to your feelings. Haruka: I'm not faithful... I'm always running away... Neptune (getting teary-eyed while talking): I know more about you than you do... because I watch you all the time! I don't want you to take the same way as I took. Still, I was happy when I found out that you were the one... (blushes and looks away) I'm sorry, I didn't mean to talk about it... sorry... Haruka (narrative, as her flashback-self looks at the henshin wand): And then, I... [returns to present, where we see Haruka with her henshin wand] A/A- Michiru tries to stop her from taking the wand. We already know from the earlier dialogue that she doesn't want the responsibility of saving the world, however. She'd give up having a partner to help her? She really doesn't want Haruka involved with it... She gets badly injured to protect Haruka... and that could have ruined her career. She sees the daimon and immediately protects Haruka. Then good ol' Haruka holds her *sniffles!* I thought it was kinda interesting how Neptune is lying right on top of her when they get knocked over o_O The dialogue... WHOA! Michiru is obviously quite interested in Haruka and devoted to her. She knows more about Haruka than Haruka does herself, because she watches her all the time. And she's embarrassed to have revealed all this to Haruka. This isn't a friendly interest, kiddies! I think it's quite sweet and almost sad that Haruka took the henshin wand anyways. She sees just how much she means to Michiru and gives up her current life [racing and all that] to become her partner in battle. *Waaaah!!* #7- Later ("present" time), after saving Elza, they're driving in Haruka's car. We can see a picture in Michiru's sketchbook, a gorgeous picture of Haruka flying, wrapped in blue ribbon. Some more dialogue :) Haruka (narrative): And then, I chose this way. More correctly, I just accepted the fact that I am a Sailor Soldier. Right, I have to find the Messiah in order to save the world. I am not allowed to stop during these days of combat. But... Haruka (out loud): I am happy to see you. Michiru: What? Haruka: Let's keep driving! I'm not going to let you go tonight! Michiru: My! (and they both laugh) A/A- My my, Haruka is suggesting something quite interesting in her dialogue! Not let go of Michiru, eh? And Michiru's reaction is so cute! I just want to comment, the picture Michiru has made is incredible. The body detail is quite... Let's just say, is Haruka cold? o.O You wouldn't paint a picture like this of a friend... and if we assume the picture is accurate... Either Haruka was willingly her live model (if you know what I'm referring to) or Michiru has seen a lot more of Haruka than we've seen... Episode 107: #1- A boy named Masanori, whom Chibi-Usa likes, has a crush on Michiru, who goes to the same art school as him. He gives her a bouquet of red roses, saying they symbolize "passionate love" and Michiru kisses him on the cheek (hey, roses are _quite_ pricey and all -.-; And remember, he's just a little boy.) She jokes when she sees Chibi-Usa that she's her "love rival". When Michiru is alone with Haruka in a classroom, there's some interesting dialogue [am I throwing a lot at y'all or what?]: Haruka: I looked around, but there's no sign of Eudial's activity. Michiru: Okay, now we can relax this afternoon, right? Haruka (seeing the roses): Oh, where did you get those flowers? Michiru: Are you curious? Haruka: A little. Perhaps, is that from your boyfriend? Michiru: Of course. Haruka: Wow, there's a man brave enough to approach you! Michiru: It's not like you to become jealous, Haruka! Haruka: I'm not jealous. I just can't stand knowing that you looked at someone besides me. Michiru (smiling quite broadly): That's called jealousy, Haruka. A/A- Heh heh, Haruka's jealous! Haruka's jealous! Boy, is it obvious! Episode 108: Haruka and Michiru dance together at Edwards' party, and seem _quite_ happy to do so. When Haruka was dancing with Usagi, and Michiru with Mamoru, they kept at a distance from their dance partner, but while they dance together, they're holding each other close and smiling rather sweetly at each other. A/A- The look they give each other when they dance... Quite blissful, ignoring everyone else, just wrapped up in each other *sigh* Episode 109: #1- Michiru and Haruka are seen together yet again, at the bookstore, where Minako runs into them. A/A- They're together... Um... ok, that's not that big of a deal. #2- When they're talking at the end of the episode, there's a view where you can only see their profiles, Michiru has her eyes closed, and it looks as if she's leaning on Haruka's shoulder [the angle makes it hard to tell, though.] A/A- Assuming Michiru is leaning on her shoulder, friends don't usually lean on each other. Episode 110: #1- Michiru was relaxing while holding a seashell to her ear. Haruka makes a comment; "It's not fair to indulge in your own world. Don't leave me alone." Michiru is shown laying in a long chair, Haruka standing behind it, bending over the back so her face is close to Michiru's. They talk about their premonitions of finding a Talisman that day. A/A- Hmm, Haruka's worried about Michiru leaving her alone... I think it's quite cute the way she leans over her. #2- This episode suggests that Haruka and Michiru live together in the same apartment. The answering machine message is: "We have stepped out for a moment. Please leave a message at the tone." The voice is hard to place, a bit high-pitched. Could be Michiru? Eudial refers to it as "the home of Ten'ou Haruka, I believe?" The voice on the machine definitely isn't Haruka, though. A/A- Even if this is translated wrong... Ok, Michiru is just sitting around a pool by herself earlier. And in the time of this scene, she's off swimming while Haruka's sitting on a windowsill. If you were a friend with a guest over, you wouldn't leave them by themself somewhere in your house. They must be living together, or else they'd feel the need to entertain their guest (whoever would be the guest and host in this case, I don't know, because there is none!). And if we assume the translation is correct, they must live together. Let's assume that Michiru made that recording. Eudial is then refering to it as Haruka's place, so again, they must be living together... why would you record a friend's message for them? #3- Haruka is sitting on the windowsill after Eudial leaves a message and faxes a map. She looks at her hands, thinking to herself that they're dirty [referring to how they've had to be willing to sacrifice innocents to save the world], and that she'll get the Talismans no matter what. Michiru comes over to her and sits down by her, taking Haruka's hand in hers and they sorta do this hand-caressing thing before she clasps it tightly, her other hand resting near Haruka's inner thigh. Haruka asks rather shakily, "Come on, what's wrong?" She tells Haruka, "Haruka... don't worry! I like your hands." A/A- They look so adorable together... Ahem, anyways, that type of hand- holding is quite intimate-seeming. And Michiru's other hand is on Haruka's thigh, quite high up it, too o.O You don't go touching people's legs for no reason! And Michiru is quite good at reading Haruka's moods, don't you agree? #4- Uranus and Neptune stand before the Marine Cathedral, and Neptune reaches to rest her hand lightly against Uranus's. She reminds her that no matter what, they ignore each other's dangers and get the Talisman alone. Uranus says "Why did you have to remind me?" Neptune comments, "True." [note: VKLL says they said "Come on, I know that already," and "That's right." But then again, they've been wrong before... Like in 167, I'll get to that later. I like the one I put here better --;;] A/A- More hand stuff... And Neptune is reminding Uranus of their promise. That suggests Uranus might ignore it and try to save Neptune? I wish I knew which translation was accurate, cuz VKLL has messed up suggestive dialogue before, so the one I have up first might be right... and if it is, the scene is even more cute than before ;) #5- Neptune dives in the way and pushes Uranus aside to keep Uranus from getting hit from those weird block thingies and gets captured. Eudial comes over the intercom and says Neptune has a Talisman and she'll take it. They're in the chapel. Uranus takes off running for the chapel, saying to herself that Neptune can't possibly have a Talisman, and when she gets there, she sees a long bridge with Neptune tied to a block on the other side. Her eyes get wide and she screams "Neptune!" and starts running across immediately, getting shot in the process. A/A- Even after Neptune reminded Uranus of their promise, she still tries to save her. Uranus is trying to deny Neptune has a Talisman... after all, they believe Talisman holders will die. The way she screams "Neptune!" and doesn't even consider that this is a trap, she just runs right for her... *sniffles!* #6- When Eudial is going to extract Uranus's Talisman, Neptune breaks free of the ropes holding her against the piller and runs across that span of floor, getting shot many times with those weird arrow thingies. She cries out to Uranus that she won't let her die. Uranus tells her not to move, but Neptune keeps going. Neptune cries out to her as "Haruka" rather than Uranus. The cupid thingies run out of bullets. When she gets to where Eudial is, Eudial pushes the gun against her and seems to involuntarily pull the trigger, taking out Neptune's Talisman. Uranus is sitting there with a horrified look on her face, they show a rose falling a hitting the ground, and she remembers the windowsill thing from earlier. A/A- This is sooooo sad! ;_; Neptune gives her life trying to keep Uranus from dying... And considering all that pain... I mean, she was slammed by a block, and now shot with a few rounds of arrows... Uranus is the strongest Senshi physically and fell after _one_ round! Their feelings for each other really show in this scene... the look of pure horror on Uranus's face, and with them showing the earlier window- sill scene (they show their hands, flash to Michiru's smiling face, a rather pretty shot), plus the rose falling to the ground... it's beautifully done, sad but romantic. #7- After Usagi has arrived and knocked Eudial down into the basement area, Uranus is sitting there, slumped over with her face hidden by her bangs, and whispers, "It's not fair, Michiru. You always indulge in your own world." Uranus takes the gun, and after struggling with Usagi and knocking her aside, shoots herself. A/A- Uranus's obviously losing her will to live, her sad comment, then shooting herself... she's basically commiting suicide. She doesn't even mention the Talisman situation at first. Michiru is her first concern... Whoa. Episode 111: When Pluto makes Uranus and Neptune's bodies hover and returns their heart crystals, they wake up, and they almost immediately look over to each other. A/A- No biggie, but I thought it was kinda cute :) [Note: I have not seen any other SMS episodes besides 112 and 113; these are based on synopses] Episodes 112-123: Haruka and Michiru are rarely shown in either form, but are together whenever they appear [except 115; the summary doesn't even mention Michiru so I'm assuming she isn't in it at all]. Episode 118: Michiru teases Haruka by saying she has more faith in Moon than in her and Setsuna. A/A- Well, she's teasing her. But that doesn't really say much, does it? Episode 124: I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I've heard that Uranus and Neptune hold hands briefly in the helicopter. Uranus and Neptune are together the whole episode. A/A- Can't really comment since I'm not sure of the accuracy... Episode 125: Again, they are together the whole episode. Episode 126: #1- Haruka and Michiru are in a restaurant together, taking care of the baby Hotaru. Tiny bit of dialogue: Haruka: You two are picture perfect. Michiru: There's nothing wrong with an ordinary life, don't you think? Haruka: Hey! Anyway, time's up. Michiru: Okay. Sorry, baby. A/A- I'm guessing that Haruka's reaction has something to do with what Minako meant by "ordinary life"... I dunno. Wish I had the episode. #2- I don't know exactly what happens, but the summary says that while they're in Haruka's car driving away, Haruka remembers all the times she's had with Michiru. A/A- Huh? What, did they do a flashback sequence or something? Can't comment since I have no idea... #3- They leave the city together in Haruka's car after battling Moon. Ok, they are _leaving the city TOGETHER_. They really do go _everywhere_ together! [they don't appear in ep. 127] The SMS Movie [I own this]: #1- They have a very small part in the movie, but are together the entire time. When the Snow Dancers burst the window at the table Setsuna, Haruka, and Michiru are sitting at, Haruka immediately moves to protect Michiru and get her out of harm's way. A/A- Awww... Haruka doesn't even have time to think, she instinctively saves Michiru. That's sweet! ^-^ Season: Sailor Moon SuperS Haruka and Michiru make no appearance in the anime of this season. The SuperS special [based off of a script and several screenshots and .avis]: #1- There are different parts to this special, and during Usagi's, she and Chibi- Usa wonder what Haruka and Michiru are up to and Usagi says, "Well, knowing those two..." and we see a picture of them standing close together with the misty effect and bubble thing going that they use for romantic pictures. A/A- Suggesting they're off being romantic together... Hmmmm... And the picture they show; the effects used are only for romantic scenes. Friends don't have romance with each other. Haruka and Michiru have a segment to themselves in the special. #2- Haruka is lying sick in bed, apparently at a hotel, while a maid tends to her. She flirts with the maid, and Michiru walks in while she's doing that. Haruka _stops_! Michiru apparently elbows the maid, or punches her in the stomach, something to that effect. [note: that's a rumor; I can't confirm it] A/A- Michiru is quite jealous of the maid! o.O And she's maaad about Haruka's flirting! I'm surprised that Haruka stopped for once o.O #3- A man and his dummy [apparently the enemies], taunt Neptune after they've attacked Haruka and started training her energy. They threaten her with some babble about releasing some type of energy or whatever that will attack people all over the world, and will release it if she tries to attack to save Haruka. Neptune does so anyways. The man and dummy are baffled and ask her how she knew they were lying. Neptune remarks, "Oh, it was a lie?" The man says something confusing that implies that he's surprised Neptune did that just to save her. He comments something about, "Do you still insist you are a righteous hero who protects world?!" [I'm guessing he's accusing her of not defending the Earth after all.] She tells him, "Oh? I think you misunderstand something. A world without Haruka is hardly worth saving." A/A- That bit of dialogue really shows you just how strongly she feels for Haruka. She risked the world to save her... and she thinks the world isn't worth it without Haruka ;_; The SuperS Movie [I own this also]: Pupuran [one of the fairies] is the only one left of the three loyal to Vadianne. Before he gets "killed", Uranus asks what they plan to do by kidnapping children. He snaps, "We want to change the world so children can stay as children! What's wrong with that?" He tries to play a tune on his flute to make more BonBonBaddies attack, but Uranus slashes his flute with the Space Sword, and he turns into a bird and flies away. Neptune comes up beside her as Uranus is murmuring, "A world where children can stay children..." and Neptune says, "It's much more fun when you become an adult. They shouldn't interfere, should they?" [note: I've seen this translated a few different ways, and they all mean basically the same thing]. Uranus's eyebrow twitches and she blushes, then coughs into her fist while Neptune just stands there smiling at her. A/A- *jaw drops* ahem... YIPE! This really, REALLY suggests that they are doing "adult things" together... you don't do that with a FRIEND! o.O And Uranus actually blushes and gets embarrassed! Gee, is that suggestive or what?! Season: Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (I have through 186) Episode 167: [this kinda turns into a synopsis of what happened involving Haruka and Michiru in this episode; not _everything_ implied they had a relationship ... oooooops] #1- Haruka and Michiru are at an aquarium, apparently located in the top floor in this really tall skyscraper. While watching fish and things swim by, Haruka asks Michiru, "You love this, don't you?" Michiru is looking directly at Haruka (who's watching the fish still), and says, "Watching this makes me feel calm and peaceful. I could look at this all day." Haruka closes her eyes and says, "Yeah, watching them really makes you feel like all your troubles have gone away." Michiru giggles into her hand, and turns while starting to walk away to comment to Haruka, "I wasn't talking about the fish." Haruka looks at her with a rather stunned look on her face. A/A- Whoo hoo! ;) Michiru really enjoys Haruka's presence... the look on Haruka's face is so cute! #2- They are out on the top of the building, where there's alot of plants and benches and things. They look up at the sky and see all the sparkling "stars" [really the shards of Nepherenia's mirror], and comment on how pretty it is. Michiru gets a bad feeling and takes out her mirror, but she can only get a brief glimpse. She looks really worried. Haruka asks if it's a new enemy and Michiru isn't sure. Haruka comments, "If it's something that can block your mirror, I don't want to face it!" Michiru asks in a sort of insulted voice, "Don't you trust me anymore?" Haruka smiles and says, "Of course, I always have." Michiru makes some weird sound, the best way to describe it is a pleased hum equivalent to "awwww..." It sounds like "mo" almost (huh?) I don't know, you'd have to hear her. A/A- Well, whatever that sound was, that's cute that Haruka has always trusted her :) #3- The shards stop falling, and people around them start going "ow!" and flinching as if cut by something. Haruka and Michiru (who were leaning against each other!) look around them at everyone getting hurt, then one slices into Haruka's hand, causing her to wince and clench her eyes shut in pain. Michiru tells her to let her look at it, gets down on her knees, takes Haruka's hand in both hers, and presses her mouth to her hand, sucking out the shard [!] A/A- They were leaning on each other, Michiru had her eyes closed, and... she #^*!ing sucked a glass shard from her hand!! o.O Hey, would you do that for a friend, or just let them worry about it themself? #4- She spits the shard and the blood into a cloth, then it sparkles strangely and Haruka knocks it out of her hand, warning her to get back. The shard, along with the others, turn into mirror paredories. Haruka and Michiru stand back to back, and they say some stuff basically along the lines of whether the mirror was right about there being trouble or not. The paredories leap to attack, then Pluto's Dead Scream blasts them. Haruka and Michiru are clearly very stunned, not believing what they're seeing. Baby Hotaru is in Pluto's arms. They transform into Uranus and Neptune. Pluto puts Hotaru aside, and the Outer Senshi fight the paredories, shattering them, but they just reform after they shatter. One leaps at Uranus, grabbing her throat, and they are thrown back against a railing, which gives away. There's a shot looking down off the side of the building, and you see the railing plummet down, soon followed by the paredory, before the shot moves up to Uranus, held up by Neptune. Neptune is struggling to keep her grip on Uranus, their gloves starting to slip. Neptune comments, "I've been telling you not to eat so many sweets," and Uranus remarks something along the lines of, "Save the scolding for bed." A/A- Yet another thing that suggests Haruka and Michiru are... quite intimate with each other. I mean, Haruka basically says wait till they're in bed for that kind of talk... FRIENDS?! IN BED _TOGETHER_?! *ahem* To finish up, Pluto is grabbed by a paredory while another goes after Baby Hotaru. Neptune and Uranus both scream at it to stop. Hotaru's forehead symbol bursts into light, and the paredory disintegrates, and the Outer Senshi receive their Super forms. Hotaru ages to a toddler. [Note: As for that "save the scolding for bed" line... VKLL screwed up on my video and translated it as something way off, I forget exactly what, something very brief. If you listen to what Uranus is saying, however, you can clearly hear the word for "bed" (and VKLL's translation doesn't mention it)... Somebody wasn't paying attention when they subbed the video! ^^;;; I've seen other sources translate the line as "I don't listen to that kind of talk outside of a bed" as well. Basically the same, right? I've heard some stranger translations, let's see if I can remember... Something about "eating sweets in bed" and "speak for yourself," I can't recall exactly.] Episode 168: #1- Haruka and Michiru now share a house with Setsuna and Hotaru. They come home together in Haruka's car with groceries. Hotaru calls Michiru "Michiru-mama" and Haruka "Haruka-papa". A/A- Can you say "couple"? #2- While Hotaru makes a hologram of the solar system, Michiru leans her head against Haruka's shoulder, Haruka smiles down at her sweetly. A/A- The leaning, the smile... Episode 169: Haruka and Michiru are of course together the whole time. Neptune teases Uranus later in the episode; Uranus comments on Neptune's hoping that her premonitions of a battle were wrong-- "I was just getting bored from everything," and Neptune says, "So, are you saying you're bored when I'm around?" A/A- Neptune is being rather cute when she teases Uranus. Uranus gives her a rather funny look when she says that line... Episode 170: #1- The Senshi get split up in this episode; Neptune is with Mars and Uranus with Mercury. While Mercury and Uranus are running, Uranus thinks about how Neptune would always try to match her pace. A/A- I just think it's interesting how Uranus automatically thinks about her, even in a situation like this. #2- Mars and Neptune are in a forest, arguing about which way to go. Mars comments that in this type of situation, Usagi would definitely agree with her. Neptune says, "You two must be close, like Uranus and me." Mars looks a bit miffed and replies, "Don't put us together like that!" A/A- If Haruka and Michiru were just friends, why would Mars object to Neptune's comment? Episode 171-172: Nothing in these episodes, and they really aren't shown together. Episodes 173-178: Haruka and Michiru make no appearance in these episodes. Episode 179: Michiru and Haruka reappear together in this episode at the very beginning, and at the very end. In the beginning part, they talk with Usagi about how Mamoru is doing in America. At the end, they are shown together leaning on Haruka's car by the ocean. Michiru [talking about enemies], says, "Another big wave is coming," to which Haruka replies, "It's a bigger wave than what we have seen." Michiru then says, "Is our fighting ever going to end?" and Haruka tells her, "It doesn't matter, as long as I'm with you." Then Michiru leans her head against Haruka's shoulder. A/A- Haruka's line, sooo sweet... and Michiru leans on her. Cute! ;) Episode 180: #1- Haruka and Michiru gave the Inner Senshi tickets to a concert Michiru was performing at with the Three Lights. Usagi shows up after the concert is over [she was running VERY late], and Haruka tells her she was going to go to Michiru's dressing room and invites Usagi. A/A- Haruka was going to her dressing room? Hmmm... #2- Michiru was in her dressing room when Seiya knocks on the door and comes in, and they talk briefly before Seiya comes over, flirting rather heavily, and puts his face next to hers over her shoulder, saying he wants to learn more about her. Michiru stands up and lifts her hair and asks if he could help her change. Quite interruption: Earlier, they felt a strange energy coming from each other. They wanted to investigate that. That's why Michiru is doing this, ok? She's trying to wring information from him, she doesn't mean anything by it! Haruka and Usagi come in, and Seiya seems surprised to see Usagi with a "handsome guy", and Michiru quickly says that Haruka is "her [Michiru's] special person." [note: Usagi uses about the same term (except she says "important person") in reference to Mamoru in the next episode...] Seiya introduces himself and shakes hands with Haruka, and she coldly tells him to get out. Haruka tells Michiru not to let people like him in her dressing room and Michiru asks Haruka, "Oh? Are you jealous?" Usagi tells Haruka he is a nice person and to forgive him, then leaves. Haruka turns and says, "Michiru, I was..." and Michiru presses a finger to her lips, turns around, holds up her hair, and looks back at Haruka and says, "Now, do you want to help me?" and Haruka looks a bit amused and closes her eyes and says, "All right." A/A- Whoa, this whole scene... Michiru calls Haruka her "special person", she's admitting to their relationship! Then Haruka is QUITE cold to Seiya, yikes! Then Haruka actually starts to apologize, and she has a cute surprised look on her face when Michiru presses her finger to her lips... The look on Michiru's face though, when she makes her offer to Haruka, WHOA! Can you say "seductive"? And then Haruka just agrees to undress her... after the comments in the SuperS movie and ep. 167, you have to assume she's done it before... and she's so casual in her agreement to help, like it's no big deal if she sees Michiru naked! o.O Episode 181: Usagi was sitting in a park when Haruka and Michiru come up to her wearing similar outfits. Haruka asks what she is doing there and Michiru says "the only people who come to the park on a holiday are couples and pigeons" and Usagi says, "Pigeons?" Usagi says Seiya told her to come here. Haruka tells Usagi to be careful of him, and Michiru comments that Haruka doesn't like popular men, which seems to exasperate her. Michiru drags her away. Haruka complains, "Ouch... You're hurting me!" and Michiru says, "Am I?" to which Haruka replies, "I want you to touch me gently!" Michiru tells her, "Later, when we're alone!" Usagi is sitting there with little dots for eyes and comments to Luna, "That's an adult mood, isn't it?" A/A- The pigeons thing really cracked me up... But hey, since they obviously _aren't_ pigeons, they're a couple (no duuuuh!). Haruka's reaction to the popular men remark is amusing, and when Michriu drags her away... O.O She'll touch Haruka gently when they're alone... Eeeep! And Usagi remarks that it's an adult mood... hmmm, what could they be suggesting?! Episode 182: No appearance in this episode, however _Setsuna_ appears in normal form and as Pluto. Episode 183: No appearance. Episode 184: [note: This episode is the most hilarious! First day I got it, I watched it twice, and again the day after!] #1- Haruka's car breaks down, and Michiru notices they're near Usagi's house. Haruka asks if they should stop by to kill time, and Michiru says, "I'm not bored when I'm with you!" A/A- Michiru's comment is cute. She has fun with Haruka ;) #2- When they're at Usagi's, Haruka is mad Seiya is there and vice versa. While they are sitting around in the family room, together, all sorts of interesting things... She says she "doesn't want Usagi around you guys," and Yaten says to not make them out to be the same as Seiya. Rei asks Usagi if they're on bad terms and Usagi leans with her hand held as if "whispering" says, "Rather, I hear Haruka doesn't like men!" Yaten looks at Haruka [note: she's wearing very masculine clothes in this episode] and comments, "That makes sense, doesn't it?" and Haruka looks rather mad and embarrassed says, "That doesn't make sense!" Michiru then does the "whispering" thing to them and says, "Haruka doesn't like popular men!" and the Inners say, "That makes sense!" And Haruka insists again, "That doesn't make sense!" Note the closed eyes and eyebrow twitching. A/A- If nothing else, if confirms Haruka's sexuality (as if all her flirting didn't already...) Episodes 185-186: No appearance. [Note: I have episodes 197-200, but no other Stars episodes. You know the drill for the other episodes by now :P BTW, my copy of 197-200 is _not_ subtitled, it's raw... so anything having to do with dialogue came from summaries and scripts since I don't speak Japanese, or any language other than English for that matter.] Episode 189: No appearance. Episode 190: They appear together, but that seems to be it. Episode 191-193: No appearance. Episode 194-196: They appear together, but again, that seems to be the only thing. Episode 197: #1- Uranus attacks Galaxia with the Space Sword, and Galaxia just holds the blade back and it goes dim. She throws Uranus backwards. Uranus cries out, "It didn't work!" and Neptune says, "Maybe it's getting rusty." Uranus remarks, "Hey, I'm still sharp," to which Neptune replies, "Let's find out later, when we're alone." A/A- Geeeee... If they have to wait till they're alone, it must be something very... intense... o.O #2- Galaxia explains her bracelets to the Outer Senshi [how the wearer will lose their star seed, but with the bracelets they won't die]. Uranus asks her, "If I get that bracelet, I can live?" and Galaxia nods. Uranus turns to Neptune with a sort of sly look on her face and says, "I don't mind selling my soul to the devil if I can be with you," and Neptune immediately agrees to do it. They stand up, Pluto and Saturn staring at them in shock, and Neptune says, "I'm with you until I die," and Uranus says, "Let's be together in hell." A/A- This has got to be one of the best examples of things that make it clear how strong they feel for each other. To be willing to sell your soul to the devil, to "be with you until I die"... Ah, love! *sigh!* Episode 198: Galaxia takes away their bracelets after they break free of her control and try to extract her [non-existant] star seed. As they lay dying on separate levels of the... I guess that's a roof... Neptune calls weakly, "Haruka?" and Uranus says, "What?" Neptune says, "I want to touch you," and Uranus is silent briefly. They stretch their hands towards each other, struggling as they fade away. Uranus reaches out and grabs Neptune's hand. Neptune whispers that she can see the light, and Uranus says, "It's warm, Michiru." [they are forcing the words out, from how it sounds, and Uranus seems to make a big effort to say "Michiru" at the end.] As they fade away, the shot shows their hands, clasped together tightly, their grip weakening as they die, and then they disappear. A/A- The last thing they do before they die is touch hands ;_; And Neptune... ok, she doesn't have much time left, much energy to speak, yet she is able to tell Uranus she wants to touch her ;_; And Uranus's final word is "Michiru"... *SOB!* This scene is sooo romantic... Episode 199: Errr... they're kinda _dead_ in this, so they can't exactly appear, can they? ;_; Episode 200: After everyone is alive again, the Outer Senshi are together in Haruka's car. Some lights streak by [the Starlights returning home]. Hotaru is really excited and cries out, "A shooting star!" Setsuna asks what she wished for and Hotaru says "it's a secret", and asks Setsuna hers, to which Setsuna also says "it's a secret". Michiru and Haruka, sitting next to each other, are looking up at the sky. Michiru says, "They're going home," and Haruka says, "They aren't shooting stars. They are great stars that shine in the night sky." Hotaru asks what the two of them wished for, and Michiru says, "There's nothing I need to wish for. We're happiest now, right Haruka?" and Haruka agrees. As they're saying this, Michiru leans her head against Haruka's shoulder and Haruka pulls her close. A/A- Awwwww... That's so cute! They say they don't need to wish for anything cuz they're already happiest and lean together... cuuuute! A nice send-off for them, if you ask me; one last example of their love :D Sailor Stars Volume 8 Laserdisc Cover: [not sure of the episode #'s] Supersailoruranus and Supersailorneptune, with cherry blossoms falling around them, embracing... like the SMS one, Uranus is holding her from behind, but this time one of her hands is _quite_ clearly on Neptune's chest, their cheeks are pressed together as they smile, and Neptune is reaching back, one hand on Uranus's wrist, the other hand touching Uranus's other cheek. A/A: Would you ever put your hands on a female friend's chest the way Uranus does if you were also female? Would you seem quite happy if your also-female friend did that to you? Do you go around touching cheeks together? I think not. Songs and Prologues: The following are translations for songs and "prologues" appearing on the Sailormoon CDs. I know that Naoko Takeuchi writes some songs for the CDs, and I assume she wrote some if not all of these. I'm not including "Kaze ni Nari Tai" (I Want to Become the Wind, Haruka's S song) here because it really doesn't have anything to do with her relationship with Michiru, even though it's a great song. [pause] Now?? (says that a bit irritably) A sunrise at sea will be there anyday, won't it? [pause] (says this rather kindly) It's a bother....Wait there, I'll come soon to pick you up. [hangs up phone, pause, some nice music] It's a cold tiny light. It's a lonely star freezing itself. Awwww! I thought the phone conversation was interesting. Michiru has obviously left the house to watch the sunrise, and Haruka is woken up by her phone call, and though she apparently isn't a morning person, she tells her she'll come pick her up anyways :) BTW, you don't call friends in the morning for things like this. And if she's coming to pick her up, it's gotta be to bring her back to the house they _share_, and if not, Haruka sure is really sweet to Michiru. Michiru's SMS poem- "Himeta Omoi" [note: I haven't heard this... the comments are from one of the translations] [Splashing of the waves] In my thoughts I visualize a house by the seashore, where I can live together with you. A white house on the cliff, from where we can hear the waves approaching and departing. Isn't that nice? (a little embarrassed) It would have been better if you were only a normal boring person. In that case, then I wouldn't have wanted you. Even if were to meet by destiny, I wouldn't have loved you... [music start] Even being among a lot of friends, you were always alone. I knew about you, since I was a child. I knew that there was someone destined to me, as a young girl. But that was not the reason for loving you. Destiny doesn't mean anything to me. Ok, Michiru flat out says in both the translations I've read that she _loves_ Haruka, that she _wants_ Haruka, that she is going to stay with her _forever_, living together with her, that she finds her attractive, and she mentions that she would break up with her if she was boring (you wouldn't mention a break up unless you were in a relationship...), deciding "with my heart"... This makes it _very_ clear that Michiru and Haruka are lovers, doesn't it? Michiru's Stars prologue Every night a dream fortelling the end of the world repeated in my mind. In that scene, the memory of my previous life awakened. The memory as Sailor Neptune, carrying the protection of the planet of the deep sea, Neptune. But I had a dream as Kaiou Michiru... A dream of becoming a violinist. Being attracted to one with the same destiny, Ten'ou Haruka, I abandoned my dream and decided to live as a soldier. I felt pride in having the same fate as Haruka. A/A- A lot of this is just talk about the SMS mission... but it does have the nice mention of "being attracted to one with the same destiny, Ten'ou Haruka"... Note the use of the word "attracted". ********** Well, if you've read through all this and still can't believe they're in love... you're CRAZY and HOMOPHOBIC. If you think _I'm_ the one that's crazy to try to prove Haruka and Michiru are a couple... you're CRAZY and HOMOPHOBIC. If you think I know nothing about lesbian relationships and am not qualified to tell you whether one exists or not... you're CRAZY and HOMOPHOBIC. Haruka and Michiru are in love, plain and simple. They risk their lives, even die for each other. The spend all their time with each other. They say things that suggest a sexual relationship between them. They embrace, hold hands, dance togther... and they happen to be two Japanese girls. It's not impossible for two girls to love each other. And the fact that they're from Japan and act close doesn't mean they're just friends and we Western people are misinterpreting their relationship. So what if they don't kiss? Public displays of affection are frowned upon in most Oriental countries, including Japan. They're being polite, y'know? They're rather high-class and obviously observe polite behavior. We don't see them in a private setting very often. And from their dialogue, they're doing a _lot_ more than just kissing when they're alone. Also, Naoko Takeuchi, the woman who _created_ these characters, has said in magazine interviews and at conventions that they love each other, that their love is beyond friendship and has become love because they're homosexual. She made Haruka rather masculine because she wanted to make it easier for kids to understand why these two girls would love each other, saying it had to do with Haruka being so much like a man. [Note: I personally don't agree with her thinking she needed to make Haruka butch. Two girls who are rather feminine can love each other.] Well, I hope this file has helped some people see the light...
