The new digitally painted covers for volumes 1-2 were by AK (I don't know who this mysterious AK is yet) and volumes 3-7 were by Ynorka. Il Ciclo di Death Gate
      Published as seven volumes, apparently by two different publishers. Starting in 1994, they were published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, with volumes 1-6 translated by Pietro Ferrari and volume 7 by M. Maggiora, and they used the original cover art. The second publication was done by Armenia - Gruppo Editoriale with new cover art for each volume. I haven't determined the artist(s) of the new art, either.
